For as far back as I can remember I have felt compelled to create in any form that I could. I studied music, theatre, dance, writing, and sewing while growing up but it wasn't until my mid-teens when I discovered that I had a natural talent for fine art. From that point on, visual art has been my greatest passion. I am currently studying Graphic Design at the Miami International University of Art and Design, and doing freelance paintings, illustrations and craft while not in classes.
My inspirations are diverse. I fell in love with the paintings of the Surrealists, and their work drove me to experiment with oil paints, which is my favorite medium. I have also always had a love for animals of all sorts, which you will find in much of my work. One source of inspiration that never fails me is just watching people, with their varied expressions, wondering what is truly going on behind them. I feel like photography is too simple to capture something that complex, so I try to challenge myself to express it on canvas. And of course my childhood and current environments also serve as limitless pools of inspiration. Being a complete bibliophile, it's been my goal to work with authors and publishers. This is where I belong; creating a visual bridge between art and literature! |
